Climate Champions

We’re in a Race.

A race against time and against ourselves. Against the dangerous idea that we can’t do this, that there is no way.

Unlike most races, it won’t have one winner. In this race we all win, or we all lose. Winning it requires a radical, unprecedented level of collaboration, from all corners of our world. From our cities, businesses, regions and investors. From people everywhere.

Together we’re racing for a better world. A zero carbon and resilient world. A healthier, safer, fairer world. A world of wellbeing, abundance and joy, where the air is fresher, our jobs are well-paid and dignified, and our future is clear.

To get there we need to run fast, and get faster. We need more and more people to join the race, and right now. This is not about 2050, it’s about today.

Together, we can do this.
And we’re already on our way.

Five climate action projects from MENA that are making a real difference

The MENA region is already the most water-scarce region in the world – and the increasing temperatures are predicted to lead to more persistent and acute drought. Building resilience is key, which is why effective climate action is vital to limit the worst effects of the climate crisis.

“The climate crisis cannot wait for men to act, we need women at the top table now”

Women must wait 136 years before we get gender parity. To highlight this imbalance, and to mark 2022’s International Women’s Day, SHE Changes Climate has released a new short film.

Africa CSW consultation calls for a greater ‘gender’ focus in climate and disaster action

Women and girls should be at centre stage in the fight for climate justice and a transformative shift towards a disaster-proof Africa, according to the Africa Consultation on the 66th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

Why women need to be at the heart of climate action

Because women possess unique knowledge and experience, particularly at the local level, their inclusion in decision-making processes is critical to effective climate action.
