Ramadan Mubarak

By Climate Champions | March 24, 2023

Ramadan is a holy month in the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims around the world. It is a time of deep introspection – both personal and spiritual – as well as an opportunity for individuals to strengthen their relationships with God and their communities.

We recognize the significance of this month, especially for the millions of Muslims around the world who make up around 24 percent of the global population.

Across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East where a majority of Muslims live, millions will be abstaining from eating or drinking from dawn to dusk in communities already severely impacted by climate change. Rising temperatures, extreme weather events and other climate-related challenges will continue to make these conditions increasingly difficult for many in climate-vulnerable countries to endure.

Regardless of religion or background, this month offers a reminder of our collective responsibility to people and to the world in which we all call home.

To all our Muslim friends around the world, we wish you a blessed Ramadan.
